In Need of a Last-Minute Gift?

December 24, 2007 · Leave a Comment

In Bill McKibben’s words, “We celebrate the birth of the one who told us to give everything to the poor by giving each other motorized tie racks.” This year, in keeping with the true significance of the holiday, consider making a donation in your gift recipient’s name to the new house fund for the Pretty Bird Woman House, a shelter for victims of domestic violence on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in South Dakota. So far, they’ve raised 78% of the funds they need by January 31 to buy their house. Make this Christmas one of giving to those who are truly in need of life’s essential basics, safety and shelter.

Happy last-minute shopping!

UPDATE 12/28: The PBWH shelter has met their fundraising goal a month early! Of course, they can always use more donations, so if you’re so inclined, don’t hesitate to send some funding their way. In addition to funds, they can always use women’s and children’s clothing, towels, shampoo, etc. Keep updated on their needs here.
