“But Now It’s Gettin’ Late And The Moon Is Climbin’ High”

2007 Farm Aid Concert LogoThe harvest moon is still a couple weeks away, but you might be able to hear Neil Young crooning about it tonight. If you’re at Farm Aid in New York City, that is.

While everyone around here is gearing up for the big Elton John concert in Sioux Falls next month (7,000 seats sold out in 18 minutes, according to the Argus Leader!), Farm Aid is where I’d really like to be, and it’s going on as I write. While I won’t be rocking out to John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews, Willie Nelson, and Neil Young tonight (*sigh*), I can catch a concert webcast next week on Thursday , Sept. 13 at 2PM CST. Until then, their video bloggers and concert photo album will have to do.

Check out all the details here. While you’re at it, read through the entire Farm Aid website for tons of information about the great work this organization does. And cross your fingers that they pick someplace closer to South Dakota for next year’s venue!

Take us out, Neil…..

Come a little bit closer
Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin’
We could dream this night away.

But there’s a full moon risin’
Let’s go dancin’ in the light
We know where the music’s playin’
Let’s go out and feel the night.

Because I’m still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I’m still in love with you
On this harvest moon.

When we were strangers
I watched you from afar
When we were lovers
I loved you with all my heart.

But now it’s gettin’ late
And the moon is climbin’ high
I want to celebrate
See it shinin’ in your eye.

Because I’m still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I’m still in love with you
On this harvest moon.
(“Harvest Moon”, Neil Young)
